Happy New Year from Community United Church of Christ! 2016 was a year of changes for the Community family. We met new people, we lost family members, and our Pastor Mark Goforth has gone on to continue his ministry in Georgia. We wish him God speed, and encourage him to keep up the good fight and keep the faith. So now Community is in transition again. It is an exciting time as we look for where God is taking us now. People may look at us as a little church, but we have big hearts and want to shine our lights in the Lake Park community and help advance the Kingdom of God here. As we continue with the work that God has given our hands to do, we ask that the faith community would lift us up in prayer; that God would do a mighty and powerful work in us, not that we would be glorified but that He would be. 2017 is going to be a mighty and powerful year and we want to be a part of it. God bless. Please join us, if your available Sunday morning for Bible Study at 9:45 where we'll be studying Psalm 65, Praise God our Provider; and then at 10:30 for our Worship Service led by our Interim Pastor, Kathy Turton. We look forward to seeing you all there.
"Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before God's presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD is God: it is God that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are God's people, and the sheep of God's pasture. Enter into God's gates with thanksgiving, and into God's courts with praise: be thankful unto God, and bless God's name. For the LORD is good; God's mercy is everlasting; and God's truth endureth to all generations." Psalm 100 The reason we come to church, is to remember what God is doing in our lives. We forget. It's easy to forget. We look with these eyes and hear with these ears, to the appearances and we forget the blessings of God. Then there is a special week, an incredible week, a week of power, when we choose to remember God, and give thanks. Take an inventory of your life during Thanksgiving. Go through your entire house and really look at everything. Look at the pictures on the walls, the wonderful possessions you own, and remember how you received them or who gave them to you. You live an incredibly blessed life of joy. Choose this week to relive it. Relive everything by taking an inventory, and thanking God for the good in your life. It will not take long before you will have tears of gratitude coming down your cheeks. Your joy will be expressing through you. You realize that no matter how some possession seemed to come to you, it really came by God. Life is so good when you take the time to do this. Look around. Look at the people who are in your life and give thanks for them. Give thanks for everything – not only the people who are in your life today, but the people who have gone on before you. Give thanks for the hundreds of other people who have been here trying to do the same thing you are doing today – remembering God and giving thanks to God. That is the highest form of thinking that the human mind can have--to be aware that everything comes from God and be thankful for it. Blessings to you in gratitude, Pastor Mark
